How to remove the EXCAVATOR 320D2 EXCAVATOR DN engine oil cooler.

This article describes how to remove the oil cooler for an EXCAVATOR 320D2 EXCAVATOR DN engine.

Removal steps Note:

Make sure that all adjustments and repairs to the fuel system are performed by authorized personnel with

appropriate training. Before starting any work on the fuel system, refer to the Operation and Maintenance

Manual, “General Hazard Information and High-Pressure Fuel Lines” for safety information. For detailed

information on the cleanliness standards that must be followed during all fuel system work, refer to

System Operation, Testing and Adjustment, “Fuel System Component Cleanliness”

Keep all parts clean and free of foreign matter. Foreign matter will cause rapid wear and shorten component life

Note:

When inspecting, maintaining, testing, adjusting and repairing the product, always take care to ensure

that fluids are contained. Before opening any chamber or disassembling any component that contains

fluids, be prepared to collect the fluids in a suitable container. Dispose of all fluids in accordance with

local regulations and directives

1. Drain coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container. Refer to the Operation and

Maintenance Manual, “Cooling System Coolant – Drain” for the correct procedure. 2. Place a suitable

container under the engine oil cooler to catch any oil that may spill.

3. Remove the oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, “Oil Filter Base – Remove and Install”.

4. Remove the bolts (1) from the engine oil cooler assembly (2). Note the location of the different

length bolts. Do not remove the bolts at the (X) position. Note: Support the engine oil cooler while

removing the bolts.

5. Remove the engine oil cooler assembly (2) from the cylinder block.

6. Remove the gasket (3) (not shown).

Disassembly steps:

1. Remove the bolts (4).

2. Remove the cooler base (5) from the bulkhead (7).

3. Remove the gasket (6)
